alvaro sierra was in totaal 21 jaar!!! prof en werd al in 1990!!!! voor het epo tijdperk 19e in zijn eerste vuelta. vorig jaar werd hij nog 2e in de ronde van ecuador en 3e in de ronde van bolivia, waar hij een etappe won. sierra won de ronde van colombia in 1991 en daarna niet meer. wel vele ereplaatsen en overwinningen in rittenkoersne in vooral colombia en bolivia. een echte ouderweste colombiaanse klimmer. kon voor geen meter dalen. was de slechtste sprinter ter wereld en had de explosiviteit van een sergei gonchar. maar hoe hoger langer en zwaarder de beklimmingen. hoe minder renners in zijn wiel :notworthy :notworthy
